Precautions Against COVID-19 Disease for SEDEC 2020


Supported by the Presidency of the Republic of Turkey Presidency of Defence Industries and The Defence and Aerospace Industry Exporters' Association, SEDEC 2020 is going to be the first international Homeland Security, Border Security and Internal Security Systems event to take place in Turkey after the pandemic. As you know, SEDEC Conference, Fair and B2B/B2G event, which was scheduled to take place on 2-4 June 2020, has been postponed until 15-17 September 2020 within the framework of our obligations concerning the preservation of public health and protect our participants and visitors against this pandemic.


A safe business platform which will help to form international collaborations, business relations and economical activities in key sectors such as Homeland Security and Border Security, can create wonderful opportunity to start fighting and removing economic effects of the disease on the industries.


The industry representatives, decision-makers and procurement bodies who can physically attend the event will be brought together with the participants in accordance with all circular and rules of the Ministry of Health, using a B2B/B2G platform and specific schedules for each participant.  The industry representatives, decision-makers and procurement bodies who cannot attend the event directly will be connected with the participants for B2B/B2G meetings using a digital setup which will be situated within the event area. Meetings focused on export goals will be held for all companies, both large and small, in the industry. These B2B/B2G meetings will be scheduled and executed solely by using SEDEC’s special and domestic software and registration system.


In this respect, SEDEC 2020 is planned as a “Dual Event” that brings together all the advantages both physical and digital events.


In 2018, over 4200 meetings were held within SEDEC. B2B and B2G schedules, which will be tailored specifically for each participant, will be prepared to provide the most effective and productive outputs by our B2B program developed by us and run on our own servers. Thanks to this program, which has been developed and run completely locally, our data security and independence in this regard has reached the highest level.


In order to serve the industry even during the pandemic, we have organized an online event under the name of SEDEC Talks with speakers from 5 countries. Our conference was moderated by the CEO of TURKSAT and SpaceX’s Vice-President of Commercial Sales, the CEO of Airbus Defence and Space, the CEO of Turkish Aerospace, LEONARDO’s Vice President in charge of Turkey and Central Asia, the CEO of AQST Canada participated. Precautions Against COVID-19 Disease for SEDEC 2020


Changes to Our Event

Throughout SEDEC 2020, changes were made to the layout and content of our event, considering the health of our exhibitors, visitors, and the community. These are as follows:

•           ATO Congresium acts in accordance with all circulars and instructions from the Ministry of Health and relevant government institutions.

•           Opening Ceremony and Speeches will be organized in a way to create low intensity and maintain social distance in order to protect the listeners' health.

•           The conference part of our event was cancelled with the aim of maintaining social distance. Smaller workshops will be held as planned, which will enable participants to be informed about the industry rather than large conferences.

•           Lunch and gala dinner offered to our participants in our event were also cancelled with the aim of maintaining social distance. Participants will be able to benefit from the safe meal packages offered by Congresium in the hall.

•           Distances between exhibitor stands were arranged and increased in the fair area.

•           A COVID-19 stand has been added to provide information on COVID-19 during the event, to follow up on these measures and to meet advisory needs.

•           In order to prevent the spread of respiratory particles that can be released into the environment as a result of speech, coughing and sneezing, unmasked circulation in the activity area is prohibited and the use of masks has been made mandatory throughout the activity.

•           The purchasing delegations, where we will meet our participants, and the arrivals of the delegations to the activity areas will be checked.

•           B2B and B2G meetings planned for our participants will be held face-to-face for participants from abroad who attend the venue and participants from our country. For this, the interview rooms will be adjusted according to the social distance rule.

• For parties that cannot physically participate in our event, these meetings will be held virtually partly in the event area.

Measures Regarding Social Distancing

During the SEDEC 2020 Event, the following preparations and measures have been taken to ensure that our exhibitors and visitors follow the social distance rule.

•           Our event has been adapted to a “Dual Event” format that will enable both physical and digital meetings.

•           A “Social Distance Plan” has been prepared to provide a basis for the widely accepted rules regarding social distance.

•           In accordance with this plan, barriers and floor markings are prepared. These signs will guide the participants in terms of social distancing and COVID-19 and physical barriers and direction markers will be placed where necessary.

•           Stands, corridors and transitions are arranged and marked to enable the required social distance.

Health and Safety Precautions

The following precautions have been taken regarding health and safety for the beginning and during the event.

•           At the entrance of the event area, everyone's body temperature will be measured without contact.

•           Masks will be handed out to all participants at the entrance.

•           There will be disinfection stations at the entrance and at various points of the event area.

•           The ventilation system and ducts of Congresium Ankara, where the event will be held, will be inspected, and controlled.

•           Routine disinfection and sterilization processes will be carried out frequently throughout the event area.

•           There will be a fully equipped ambulance at the entrance in case of any emergency in the event area requiring medical intervention.

•           During the event, there will be COVID-19 information experts to inspect the entries, answer the questions and provide support.

•           In order to ensure crowd control, the circulation of the participants in the activity area will be observed and supervised.

The measures and precautions taken in order to realize SEDEC 2020 Homeland Security, Border Security and Internal Security Systems event in the most efficient and the effective manner possible are prepared in light of the good practice guide provided by The Global Association Of The Exhibition Industry and regarding the precautions set by the Republic of Turkey The Ministry of Health. This document has been prepared for informational purposes.


All these changes will be constantly updated until the event date in accordance with the circular and recommendations of the T.C. Ministry of Health.

SEDEC Security and Defence Conference, Fair and B2B/B2G Event Has Been Postponed

SEDEC Turkey 2020 will take place in September.


The contagion of Corona virus (COVID-19), which emerged in Wuhan, China, in December 2019 and was defined as an infectious disease by the World Health Organization, has been determined to be a high-level risk for public health by both international and national authorities, and the alarm level has been elevated to very high.


In this regard, because of its goal to increase international business interactions by welcoming participants, visitors and stakeholders from around the world, SEDEC’s international aspect requires the necessary measures. Within the framework of the obligations concerning the preservation of public health, it has been decided to postpone SEDEC Security and Defence Fair, Conference and B2B/B2G Event to a further date, so that the visitors and participants can experience a safer, more efficient, successful and result oriented event.


With the recent emergence of the Corona Virus (COVID-19) in Turkey, there was an obligation to postpone SEDEC Security and Defence Fair, Conference and B2B/B2G Event, which was to take place on 2-4 June 2020, to 15-17 September 2020, in order to protect the participants and visitors against the pandemic. The location and scope of the event remains the same.

Pakistan-Turkey Business and Investment Forum took place on 13th and 14th of February, in Islamabad, Pakistan with participation of President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, Prime Minister of Pakistan Imran Khan, Foreign Affairs Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu, Trade Minister Ruhsar Pekcan, Treasury and Finance Minister Berat Albayrak, Transport and Infrastructure Minister Mehmet Cahit Turan, Energy and Natural Resources Minister Fatih Dönmez, Minister of Defense Hulusi Akar, President of Defence Industries Prof. Dr. İsmail Demir, Pakistani Trade Minister Abdul Razak Dawood and DEIK President Nail Olpak. The Mark for Security and Defence Technologies; Export,

Target Region; Asia…

Countries’ policies for border and homeland security are changing. Latest security policies in the world with their industry aspects will be addressed at SEDEC Turkey 2020. The event will take place in Ankara on the 2nd, the 3rd and the 4th of June with the participation of official invitees such as Boeing, Airbus, Rolls-Royce, BAE Systems, KAI, Russian State’s arms export company Rosoboronexport, European Border and Coast Guard Agency Frontex and the European Organization for Security and Asian countries make up the principal targets for export.

For most of the countries in the world, border and homeland security policies have become the foremost important agenda topic. Governments follow this field in which technological leaps occur frequently. SEDEC Turkey 2020 Event supported by The Presidency of the Republic of Turkey the Presidency of Defence Industries (SSB) and Defence and Aerospace Industry Exporters’ Association (SSI), where companies working in the fields of homeland security, border security, interior security and defence systems subjects will all be brought together, is getting set to uniting giant companies with international establishments at Ankara.

Professionals from 46 countries have been invited.

SEDEC Turkey CEO Hilal Ünal Türkan says that they were getting ready to host representatives from 46 Asian, Middle Eastern and African countries among which the representatives from Asia will make up the majority. Türkan says “We have intensified our efforts for exporting the systems and equipment developed in Turkey to Asia. We have formed the SEDEC Asia team to reach out to and summon the right people and potential participants to SEDEC Turkey stage.” Emphasizing the fact that SEDEC Turkey is of strategic significance for export.

Southeast Asia countries are bumping up their defence budgets.

“The participants will be able to find great opportunities to realize their exportation goals, while the team fortifying the relations with the security and the defence leaders in Asia study the territory in terms of their general structure and important subjects.”  says Türkan.

Türkan states that as a result of their intense studies on South-eastern Asia countries such as Indonesia, Malesia, Thailand, Philippines and Vietnam, a significant rise in defence industry spending in the can be observed.

Türkan proceeds:

“Even though each country’s expenditure may vary, there is an average of 10% augmentation. The rising demand for security and defence technologies in the region where this demand is generally met by import forms a great opportunity for our country’s industry. SEDEC invites all to Ankara where SEDEC 2020 is going to take place and contribute to Turkey’s industry and exportation.”

World’s biggest companies are going to be in Turkey.

Making the remark that world leaders such as Boeing, Airbus, Antonov, Tawazun Holding, Rolls Royce, BAE Sysytems, KAI and Russian State’s arms export company Rosoboronexport have been officially invited to SEDEC taking place on the 2nd, the 3rd and the 4th of June, Türkan says “Officials from European Border and Coast Guard Agency Frontex and the European Organization for Security are also among the invitees of SEDEC where the developments in this field are going to be showcased.”

SEDEC, proceeded its advertising with IWA2018 


Beside the defense, SEDEC is aiming to bring a new perspective to security sector. SEDEC proceeded its advertising between 9-12 March in a fair, IWA Outdoor Classics 2018, which is held in Germany. In fair SEDEC team conducted a lot of B2B meetings and increased awareness about SEDEC with attracting attention of various companies.

SEDEC team, in the B2B meetings at IWA fair, explained SEDEC2018 to 62 companies who manufactures guns, ammos, gun parts, police equipment, optical night vision systems. The team recorded these meetings as %86 successful. Companies’ officials who participated the fair from mostly ABD, India, England and Italy are advised about SEDEC in detail and replied to their questions in direct conversation.

CEO of SEDEC, Hilal ÜNAL, claimed the participations of IWA 2018 as “In IWA 2018, we met with a lot of companies for the first time. In first meetings like that, companies can be a little protective but SEDEC is well prepared organization and when preparations are understood by them, we observed that ices are melt really fast. Touches at IWA 2018 strengthen our belief to SEDEC. As it is planned, SEDEC will be an effective business platform which brings together the international and national players.”

SEDEC team, who are pleased with the fair, are planning to participate IWA fair next year too. The team will proceed with a higher tempo to advertisement of SEDEC in the next weeks.
